If you ever find yourself in Astoria craving BBQ that actually delivers, Goondocks Bistro is the spot. I’m telling you—they’ve nailed it.
Where do I even start? The ribs are out-of-this-world: smoky, juicy, perfectly tender with just enough bark and char to make you close your eyes and savor every bite. And then there’s their brisket grilled cheese—melty, cheesy, the brisket is rich without being greasy; it’s comfort food elevated in the best way.
One thing I especially love: their rotating dessert specials. Each time I go, there’s something new, something unexpected, and every single one has been phenomenal. You never know what treat you’ll walk out with—but whatever it is, it’s going to be memorable.
On top of all that, the customer service here is next level. Everyone—from the folks greeting you when you walk in to the people bringing your food—makes you feel welcome, cared for, like you matter. It’s not easy to get that balance of fantastic food and warm, attentive service, but Goondocks pulls it off.
Bottom line: if you’re in Astoria, this is a must. I’ll be back every chance I get.

The brisket itself tasted like it actually had liquid smoke on it ,it had that funny aftertaste you get from the liquid, and was otherwise pretty flavorless and a little dry. they also put red sauce on it. which I understand some people do as a side. but don't just put it on there. it was cut properly, not shredded. The coleslaw was dry and bland. the cornbread was very good. The portion sizes were reasonable. could be a little more generous with the slaw, cabbage is super cheap. I was really hopeful because brisket is a real pain in the butt to make. but unfortunately I won't be ordering it again. I will however try another menu item just to give it another shot.

Tried for the first time and was a little disappointed. The ribs were so over seasoned and overcooked it was hard to eat. The Two cornbread muffins were so bland and tasted nothing like cornbread. The baked beans were the best out of everything. The corn wasn't fully shucked and had a ton of strings still on it and tasted overcooked. Would not order again. Very overpriced.

This was amazing! Oh my gosh, best bbq in Astoria. The portions were perfect and will definitely be back!
