This was me and my husbands first go at soul food and we were Not disappointed. Service was friendly, the decor was simple but lovely, and the food is delicious. I got a Cajun Butter Burger and Mema's Spaghetti. The burger was good and fries were nice and thick, and thr spaghetti took me straight back to dinner at my grandmothers house. Seriously a memory on a plate. My husband got the Smothered Pork Chops (delicious - the yams were SO SWEET, and the gravy was amazing. big pork chunks, just watch out for the occasional bone), and Famous Cajun Pasta (with blackened chicken - *THE CHICKEN*").
We also got a little bit of Cornbread, strawberry cake (husband loves it), and in-store fruit punch to try. All good! Will absolutely be returning.

the food was either very blank or overly salted. I was looking forward to the food but I couldnt even finish it. The red beans and rice were tasteless, and the rice itself was so overcooked that it was mushy and gross. The gravy on the Smothered Pork Chops were non existent and the greens were so salty I could only eat two bites and throw the rest away. The Chicken & Sausage Gumbo was also SOOOO salty and the corn bread was extremely bland and you can tell it was old. The Candied Yams lacked flavor. It wasn't even sweet and all I could taste was cinnamon. Very disappointed. And also having to pay $7.95 for 6 TINY little shrimps was just crazy, I thought it would at least be medium sized shrimps but these were tiny tiny shrimps.

Tried this place for the first time..Smothered pork chop plate definitely should NOT be $21.. way too overpriced for the small amount of food I received.
The taste of the food was ok, however the portion size of rice, yams and Mac n cheese I received was a child's portion smh. I'll stick to THIS IS IT where you get your money's worth!

The Smothered Pork Chops was hot and fresh , a bit thin but well seasoned. The rice is 5 min instant which i hate. The Mac was not hot but tasty. The yams was the best. Yams was hot and delicious 5 stars for yams. The cornbread was nasty.

Had a taste for fried pork chops & so did a search near me, and this restaurant came up. I envisioned in my mind what the pork chops would look like, & they did not disappoint! They were cooked perfectly with a golden brown color, tender & juicy, not dry, & not overcooked. I would have preferred a little more season to taste, but I was able to shake a little salt on them, so not a big deal. I chose two sides, candied yams, which I can't give a bad review because no one makes candied yams as good as my husband, & I do think other soul food restaurants yams are somewhat better tasting, but they were not bad, I ate all of it along with the cabbage which was good as expected, & a nice perfect slice of cornbread that was moist, not sweet, but complimented the meal. I plan to try their smothered pork chops next time with mashed potatoes & their mac & cheese.
