"It is really rare that I am actually impressed by a restaurant but this was on a whole nother level. Indian food in southern California is absolutely trash. Literally watered down, soulless, flavorless. It's honestly sad. This is true north Indian treasure. Every spice, every speck of flavor that is supposed to be there shines bright like Surya. Both the Malai Kofta and the Saag Paneer are exceptional, my only gripe with the food itself is that the portions could be slightly larger. It took two entrees to really get me there, if you know what I mean. And the packaging is everything: the ONLY Indian restaurant I have tried in the ENTIRE state of California to use PAPER packaging and not the disgusting black plastic garbage dump that every single other place uses. As evidenced by the photos, my Strawberry Shortcake Pizookie® hardly came with any strawberries. Having said tgat, there was plenty of ice cream, and the over-all flavor was good.
My Fresh Mozzarella And Tomato Salad was very good, but dry (hardly any dressing on top). I ordered a side of steamed Broccoli, and for $5.25, the portion was very small and the broccoli was cold and bland. My daughter was satisfied with her meal, but the chocolate Kids' Mini Pizookie® wasn't cooked properly and she said it didn't taste very good, although she loved the chocolate ice cream that came with it.
We will still go to BJ's in person, but, as I said before, I wouldn't order in via DoorDash again."
