German-Southern American
Bay Street Biergarten brings the flavor of Charleston with a twist of German-inspired comfort food. From soft pretzels and bratwurst to gourmet burgers and Southern bites, our menu blends classic pub …
we got the jager schnitzel, garlic fries, fried okra, shrimp and grits, and smashed potatoes. the fried okra has a nice kick from the Cajun spice. the garlic fries were perfect, not a single soggy fry in a to go order is impressive. the schnitzel came with a very nice cucumber salad and cheese spatzle. if you like german food i highly recommend trying it. the shrimp and grits was fantastic, the fresh tomatoes and basil went well with the savory seasoning and they are generous with the shrimp and sausage. sorry no photos, the food was so good we forgot until over half was gone

Shrimp Poboy was delicious and they provided more shrimp than could even fit on the bun. I will definitely order again!

We ordered from here for the first time tonight-- I'll start by saying the Cheese Spaetzle and Biergarten Club were good. The kids burger and fries were tasty, as well.
However, when we received the order, the Crispy Brussels Sprouts were spilled out all over the inside of the bag-- I wish I'd at least had a chance to try them. The lids on the white cardboard containers come off easily and should've been plastic wrapped to prevent this.
My Salmon BLT was all over the place- it looked like it was thrown together and had scattered all over the box by the time it arrived. Flavor was just okay.
Lastly, and most importantly; the pretzel. I pretty much only ordered from here because I wanted the pretzel. I love German style pretzels and this one was really disappointing. Flavorless and hard as a rock-- it almost seemed like they made them fresh today but then microwaved it before putting it in the box. I've had so many great soft pretzels in the area and I thought for sure that a German restaurant would far exceed my expectations in this area, but I was really bummed that I couldn't even eat this one. :(
Maybe this place is better when dining it, I'm not sure, but after this experience and spending nearly $100 on a disappointing meal, we won't be ordering from here again.
