Welcome to Saba Halal Grill, your culinary passport to authentic Persian cuisine in the heart of the Bay Area. Founded by a family passionate about sharing their rich Persian heritage and love for hal…
Got the salmon fish kebab and it smelled very fishy and tasted a little fishy. I didn't have any stomach trouble from it though. I hope that was an unusual occurrence but I won't be ordering the fish again. I also ordered the veggie kebab and was disappointed in it too. The veggies had no seasoning whatsoever. There were only about 5 mushrooms, tons of onions and bell pepper, and about 8 hard zucchini chunks. Very disappointing. I mainly just ate rice and some tomato.

Saba Grill continues to impress! Take my advice: get the Baghali Polo (dill-flavored rice with fava beans)! The dill adds a delightful but very mild flavor and the rice and beans are both soft but not mushy. It could be a meal by itself! I tried the chicken koobideh but decided I like the chicken breast skewers better: better seasoned and juicier, though the chicken koobideh is good too. Since there was a BOGO I tried the Zereshk Polo (rice with barberries) too: it was good but was slightly sweet, almost like cranberries or pomegranate arils, and the Baghali is way better IMO. I also previously tried the Shirazi salad which was fine but I thought it needed more tomatoes and fewer cukes and smaller onions and less oil and more seasoning. But overall, Saba Grill is great!

Wow! What a great surprise! I took a chance on this place because I saw they had BOGO deals. As I was unpacking the delivery, I saw they had given me a chicken breast skewer not a Chicken Koobideh like I ordered. Then I noticed that they had marked the Chicken Koobideh as Sold Out, and had already refunded me the money. So I guessed the Chicken Breast skewer was a consolation. Thanks!! I usually prefer the chicken Koobideh for its seasoning, but I was pleasantly surprised at how juicy and seasoned the chicken breast was! The beef Koobideh wasn't as seasoned or juicy in my opinion. The basmati rice I ordered was also tasty and not dry, and it was great to have so many grilled tomatoes (great price!) to help "saucify" the rice and meat. I will definitely be ordering from this restaurant again!

This was amazing!! It was really good. I loved it. First time I'm having an actual meal in the bay that reminds me of back home. You could tell a lot of love and thought was put into the food. Kudos to the chef for making such awesome dishes! Generous portions, meat cooked perfectly, stew meat was very soft, fall of the rib type soft if that makes sense, the type you want it to be. Rice was buttery and soft, right amount of salt. It was fantastic. I already ate a portion of the Ghormeh Sabzi with Meat no rice and the Tahdig with Stew, , so what I've photoed is actually less than what they'd initially put in, it was full to the brim for both dishes when it arrived. I really appreciate that. And let me tell you for my first time trying these- pretty amazing and very fresh taste. If you ever had Dolma before, Ghormeh Sabzi with Meat no rice kind of has those vibes but it is indeed stew. Since it's nearing winter, Tahdig with Stew gives suchhhh Christmas vibes, it's sweet and savory. I recommend that dish if you're thinking of a potluck during that time. Tomato is smoked really well, meat for both kabobs is soft and tastes great. Especially with the addition of the lemon. They also give spices and bread, a container of spice, plus a lotttt of bread. I'm actually really happy with this cause most other places I've tried were more corporate, the food here and how it was packaged, especially with the addition of fresh mint and spices, was a very authentic and fantastic food experience!

Chicken Koobideh with rice & tomatoand Koobideh Kabob are well-seasoned and tasty. It's on the pricey side, but worth the splurge.
