Slows Bar Bq, Detroit's award-winning destination for over 20 years, is opening in Ann Arbor. We're offering a sneak preview carryout menu as we prepare for our grand opening at 207 E Washington.
I wasn't aware that Slows had re-opened in the former Blue Tractor BBQ space until we saw it was on DoorDash. The portion sizing is quite fair and reasonable! A half portion of pulled pork was easily enough to split into two meal portions! The same for the sides!
Everything arrived hot and was especially delicious on a cold day! We plan to order from Slows again soon!

Food done simple. Food done right. Everything is so flavorful and the portions are generous. I love the Apple barbecue sauce, and I think I could put that on just about anything. My current fav's are the sweet potato mash, the baked beans, and cornbread. I could make a very satisfying meal out of just sides. The brisket is awesome and not fatty with lovely flavor throughout and I can't wait to try the enchiladas. The only disappointing bit is that they don't seem to be selling the cornbread at this location. Either that or they just don't have it on DoorDash. And the cornbread makes the meal so, please put that on the menu for DoorDash!

The Mac and Mac & Cheese (16oz) wasn't bad but it wasn't very tasteful either. For this deal going I'd say a fair value. The baked beans were excellent. The Brisket chiladasadas weren't bad but definitely not what I was anticipating and it had quite a few chewy pieces. The Smoked Chicken Dinner was good but pricey for portion size and not good enough to pay that amount. For the amount we paid for the food I personally would not order again. The food was fresh however but not what I was anticipating.

This is my honest review after trying this place one time. I don't understand the hype with this restaurant. In my opinion, it was very mediocre at best. We ended up getting the smoked chicken wings and a large order of beef brisket. The chicken wings were really good. As far as the brisket goes, the portion was so small we thought they mistakenly sent us a half portion. At other bbq places, you can get a 3-meat sampler + 2 sides for the same price we payed for the large brisket. A large size was barely enough for one person. The mac and cheese and fries were overwhelmingly average. I did not particularly like the BBQ sauce. It wasn't like normal BBQ sauce as it had an odd taste and consistency to it. The food was OK, but if I was giving it a grade, it would be a C. I personally wouldn't recommend it based on my one time experience. In my opinion, this place is nowhere near as good as Blue Tractor was.
