I genuinely do not understand the ratings for FEZ Shawarma. Before my order was even prepared, I called and asked if I could switch my order to the Saj Platter, which was actually cheaper than the plate I originally ordered. I was told no, even though it would have cost them less.
Then the food arrived and somehow got even worse. I left specific instructions, and none of them were followed. My plate showed up with no hummus, no garlic sauce, barely any potatoes, no pita bread, and a pile of dry, disgusting meat.
Seriously, how do you give somebody a shawarma plate with no hummus and no garlic sauce? Those are basic parts of the meal. Instead, I got a container full of dry meat, about four potatoes, and no pita bread. It was incomplete, poorly prepared, and felt like nobody cared what was being sent out the door.
The customer service was just as disappointing as the food. I called ahead to make a simple change to a cheaper platter and was told no. Then the order arrived missing half of what makes a shawarma plate a shawarma plate.
They should be ashamed of the quality they’re serving customers. I’ve ordered shawarma from plenty of places in Ottawa, and this was easily one of the worst experiences I’ve had. Shawarma Palace is a million times better in terms of quality, portions, and consistency. Save your money and order elsewhere.
