Kizin Creole is currently Chicago's only Haitian/Caribbean restaurant. Unlike the Dominican Republic, which is influenced by Spanish food, Haitian cuisine is based on Creole and French cooking methods…
Some fried Chicken with diri djondjon so good. Well prepared plantains and pikliz were so spicy and delicious. With a nice cold Jupina. A great meal for a great value and lots of food for the price.

The best Haitin Cuisine in Chicago! It's not even close. There arent toomany Haitian restaurant options here in Chicago but Kizin is by far one of the best Haitian cuisines. The white rice, diri Kole and diri djondjon are always made so fresh cooked with love. The fried chicken, stew Chicken, goat, oxtails are always seasoned perfectly with the epis. Plantains are real not fake taste fresh and the pikliz are real pikliz! Spicy and delicous! This is the best spot to get your Haitian food.

If you are looking for authentic, soul-warming Haitian cuisine, Kizin Creole absolutely delivers. I recently ordered their traditional Griyo plate, and the entire meal was nothing short of phenomenal.
The Highlights:
The Griyo (Fried Pork): The absolute star of the show. The pork chunks were clearly marinated deeply in traditional epis (Haitian seasoning), cooked until incredibly tender, and then fried to a perfect golden-brown crisp. It had that ideal textural balance—a satisfying, savory crunch on the outside while remaining juicy and melt-in-your-mouth tender on the inside.
The Pikliz: You cannot have Griyo without pikliz, and Kizin Creole’s version hits all the right notes. The spicy, acidic crunch of the pickled cabbage, carrots, and scotch bonnet peppers cut perfectly through the richness of the fried pork, providing a beautiful, fiery kick.
The Sides: The plate was generously rounded out with perfectly pressed banann peze (fried plantains) that were crispy on the edges and soft in the middle. Paired with a deeply flavorful and comforting serving of traditional rice and beans, it tied the whole dish together.
The Verdict:
The portion sizes are generous, the flavors are complex and deeply traditional, and the food feels like it was made with love. Whether you are a long-time fan of Haitian food or trying it for the very first time, the Griyo plate at Kizin Creole is an absolute must-order. Highly recommended

Fantastic Haitian cuisine! The vegetable stew(Legume) and Kabrit( Fried Goat) are my go to meals to order. The Haitian Pattie's are soft yet crispy. So flavorful. Please order from this place. It's amazing

The Oxtail is decent. Not the best oxtail I've had and the amount is not great but in line with other Chicago restaurants who offer Oxtail. The Griot (or griyo) is excellent.
My issue however is the steamed vegetables. I expected cabbage or multiple veggies. I even ordered an extra side dish of it, it's all string beans. I hate string beans, you should advertise that and let people know it's steamed string beans. That was a waste of money for me. But otherwise this was a good purchase and I'll order again from them.
