1972 Carlos R. and Mary Garcia sold their modest home in San Antonio on February 2nd and purchased Helotes' Elchaparal. I served today as I did in 1977. 1996 Jessica was the only daughter of Carlos a…
Chritina's replant was amazing. The side of beans seemed hard. Been here before and never had that problem. Great Helotes restaurant!

Taco Salad tortilla was full of grease as shown in box. After removing the mound of shredded chicken, which my husband said was seasoned well, I was left with very little of the other goodies. Speaking of other goodies, I requested sour cream & guacamole on the side, I did not receive either item. Husband liked the chimichanga, but kind of skimpy on toppings.

The Queso Bowl is a good size and comes with a decent bag of chips. The Kids Crispy Tacos Stallion are so small and cute! The Pancho Villa plate is exactly as described. The flour tortillas are incredibly soft and yummy! My complaint is in the refried beans. They used to be THE reason to eat at El Chaperal for me, but whoever is in charge these days has changed the recipe and they're nowhere near as good unfortunately.

The cheese on top of the Texas enchiladas was not melted, the cheese enchiladas themselves were barely lukewarm. The refried beans were almost room temperature. The rice was also room temperature and crunchy, like they had not been cooked all the way. I heated it all up in the microwave in order to eat the meal. I did not eat much of the rice, I don't like crunchy rice. The food temperature had nothing to do with the delivery time. It was as actually pretty quick. The food quality seems to have gone down over the last 6 months or so. My last order from El Chapparral was lukewarm as well but since it has been quite a while I gave them another chance. I used to eat there all the time and loved the food so I might try again in a few months.
