Rise is an entirely gluten-free bakery/cafe that has been bringing fresh baked breads, bagels and pastries to the DC area for more than a decade. Everything we sell is made in house. All breakfast san…
Italian Rainbow Cookie (Gluten Free) Loved! The flavor is full, predominantly almond. The chocolate layer flavor does not overpower. The cakes are small, petit four sized.
The Sandra (Gluten Free) Amazing! Ordered with meat (chicken, turkey), onions and herbed mayo. The blend of flavors are fresh, especially with the balsamic glaze, hummus and avocado spread. The sandwich is medium in size, can be divided for two meals when there are multiple fillings. One of the possible disadvantages is the sandwich is not a panini so it is not grilled/heated.
The Monica (Gluten-Free) Excellent! Ordered with extra meat (chicken, turkey), onions and herbed mayo. The pesto flavor is one of the best for a panini sandwich. The sandwich is small in size.
I would order all of the items again.

We were so excited to try a dedicated gf bakery on our trip to DC, but overall it just wasn't all that great. We were happy to see items like the ham and cheese croissant, cinnamon roll, bagel. The bagel is decent. The ham and cheese croissant was tiny (which I actually don't mind, but the pictures online are deceiving - trust me, it's very small if you have a normal/big appetite, but perfect people who want something small so it worked out for me). The croissant was super dense and heavy. Based on descriptions and reviews I was expecting closer to a traditional croissant texture (which surprised me because gf just can't replicate gluten for these kind of pastries). I was correct. Also, the cinnamon roll was heavy, hard, dense. My daughter liked her bagel as soon as she picked off the smoked salmon - she didn't care for the flavor of the salmon. In my opinion, it's just not worth the price and it was sort of what one expects from gf trying to do pastries.
One note: they have a lot of breads and buns, so perhaps those are good and stick to items using that.

I ordered a Cheddar and Herb Biscuit (Gluten Free), Plain Croissant (Gluten-Free), Tiramisu (Gluten Free), and Strawberry Cheesecake Brownie (Gluten Free) to give them a try while visiting. I ordered ahead and had it delivered at a scheduled time. Everything tasted great. I don't know how they were able to get the Biscuit and Croissant "normal" size with such great taste and texture but they did. Of the desserts the Cheesecake is my favorite. Definitely worth your time.

WOW! My food was amazing.
The turkey sandwich bread is tasty and substantial, soft but with a real crust. The tomato slices were huge and the turkey was real, sliced from the breast meat! I also had a Chocolate Croissant (Gluten-Free), the first I've had in lote than 10 years due to celiac. Wow! Just like I remember in the non gluten free version.
Especially if you are celiac, don't hesitate-but I have no doubt that gluten eaters would love it too!

The Monica (Gluten-Free) was EXCELLENT! One of the best Gluten Free Breads I've ever had.
But please find another box to put desserts in, its very messy and can make the it look underwhelming for your customers. Maybe that just me, but presentation isnt every but it alot. But the cupcakes are decent...
