• 27/06/26After a week in hospital, I was advised to eat protein and vegetable rich foods. The War Won Ton Soup, Hot and Sour Soup fit the bill. My husband rebelled in the Honey Walnut Shrimp. Delicious. If I weren't coming off a long illness, I add just a smudge more "hot" to the hot and sour soup. Portions are hearty and eager to sample more dishes.

• 18/12/25I LOVE this place! Everything flavor-wise is fantastic. No skips. The portions are huge. My faves are the Chicken Fried Rice 雞絲炒飯, Shandong Shan Dong Chicken 山東雞, Singapore Rice Noodles 星州炒米粉,and Shan Dong Beef 山東牛肉. Everything is fresh and delicious!

• 16/10/25Best Wor Won Ton Soup 什錦雲吞湯 I've ever had. Broccoli still nice and crunchy both in the WWT and the Broccoli Beef 芥藍牛肉 Sesame Paste Noodles 麻醬麵 just the right combination of sweet and spicy as usual. Dry Braised Green Beans 干扁四季豆 soooo garlicky that we are safe from vampires for the next 72 hours. I have never had a bad dish from Shandong!

• 09/08/25Huge portions! The Beef w/ Chinese Mushrooms & Bamboo Shoots was our favorite. Super tender and flavorful! The Sweet & Sour Shrimp was just okay... not sure if we would get it again. The batter was a bit stale.

• 04/03/26It's difficult to find a first rate, un-Americanized Chinese Restaurant in Oakland these days. Everything tastes like greasy slop at 3-4 times the cost was prior to COVID. Won Ton Soup, Chow Fun and a small Pork Fried Rice which used to cost under $25 delivered is now $60. No longer can I request to be part of their loyalty program--I'm talking 50 plus years . But you can't cry over spilt Hot and Sour Soup! Onward and upward! And lo and behold, who would ever think Shan Ding--home of Homemade Noodles would pop up on Door Dash and be far less expensive than any of the Americanized Slop Joints which has made me throw all my Chinese Food Menus away. My favorites at Shan Dong are the tasty yummy Shan Dong Chicken, the Beef Chow Fun with Regular not Hand Made Noodles and the delicious War Won Ton Soup. The Hot and Sour Soup is also delicious and the Braised String Beans are amazing. Throw in an order of the garlic braised eggplant in their special sauce and you'll love me forever. I can get 5 dishes for the price of 3 at my local Palace which is so much closer but I've tried time after time and enough is enough. Even my little Chinese ShihTzu dog prefers Shan Dong and I'm sure you will too!
