• 14/06/26I was excited to try this place, but overall it was a bit underwhelming.
The best part of the empanadas, in my opinion, was the breading. I ordered the chicken empanada without cheese, and the chicken was surprisingly bland. I also tried the steak and cheese empanada—the steak itself was okay, but much of the filling seemed to be fat rather than meat. Neither empanada was filled very generously.
The guacamole also missed the mark for me. It wasn’t thick or creamy, and it tasted like it may have had salsa verde mixed in. It was so lime-forward that it almost reminded me of ceviche.
I also ordered the marinated steak tacos. Similar to the empanadas, the steak lacked flavor, and the tortillas had an oddly sweet aftertaste that I wasn’t a fan of.
Overall, the highlights of my meal were the chips and the drink I ordered. I’d come back specifically for those. On a positive note, the customer service was excellent, and the restaurant itself was very clean and well-maintained.
If you’re looking for great empanadas, I’d recommend Chicken House off Kirkwood Highway. For tacos, I personally prefer Rivera off Route 40 or Route 273.
