The Pitmaster Special for Two is more than enough for a hearty dinner at home. Plus the value is unmatched---you can essentially get a sampler of all of your menu favorites with this menu item. My abso fave BBQ in DC!

Omg!! Food was delicious and flavorful!! Cooking like they're in North Carolina. The meat was smoked so fresh so delicious so tender so juicy this two step is off the hook. I wish I could have taken a picture of the food, but I just dived in the mac & cheese is made with love. I loved it I have no complaints. I will be back again to order. Holler if you hear me!!

The pork belly ramen was amazing. It's was a great portion size. The kimchi was delicious and fresh. It wasn't too spicy but it had a nice kick to it. I had to try it since it was a monthly special and im so glad I did!

Pulled pork was too dry and hard to chew. Brisket tasted like it had been smoked for 10 minutes and then slow roasted in an oven. No pink ring whatsover and underseasoned. I'm also done with shrinkflation. For $32, I expect at least a pound of meat but I got roughly 13 oz (including the container). Coleslaw and sauces were good but proper BBQ requires no adornment. I will not order again.

This isn't just great "urban barbecue"—this is elite-tier pitmastery that can stand toe-to-toe with competition boxes in the country. Federalist Pig has dialed in their draft, their wood, and their temp to absolute perfection.
As a certified KCBS judge, my palate is trained to look past the hype and focus strictly on the holy trinity of competition barbecue: Appearance, Taste, and Tenderness. It is incredibly rare for a commercial joint to hit the mark across the board on a standard service day, but Federalist Pig didn't just hit the mark—they knocked it entirely out of the park.
The star of the show, the burnt ends. Coming from KC, they are among the best I've ever had.
The downside, the value. This place is expensive for BBQ but on par with the higher end joints around the nation.
