La Veranda Cafe is a locally owned and run Italian restaurant in Clayton's downtown district. We cordially invite you, your family, and friends to join us in a celebration of delicious food, fine wine…
La Veranda can do no wrong. My Gnocchi di Giorno with lemon cream sauce, Soup of the day, and Insalata di Barbabietole were perfection! The Chocolate Ganache and Spumoni Dreyer's Ice Cream are a must and an ideal way to top off your meal.

Lasagne al Forno - hands down the absolute worst lasagna I've ever seen or eaten. Stouffer's is gourmet compared to this. My ancestry is Italian, my grandfather was a great chef, so I know good food. The "sauce" tasted like tomato soup with way too much salt. The pasta was gummy and there was NO filling between the layers of lasagna noodles. No meat, no spinach, no riccotta, nothing. Just pasta and orange sauce. There is NOTHING Italian about this dish. Will not be eating here again. One positive was the bread. They gave plenty and provided 2 different types. The breads were fresh & soft, a little too salty, but definitely edible.Chocolate Ganache, did not look particularly appetizing but the taste was actually good, more dense than a mousse, but creamy.

The minestrone soup was broth with celery, onions and carrots. 3 penne noodles. No meat. No beans. No tomatoes. No spinach.
Cost? $9. Not worth 1/2 that. Never again.
The pasta was OK - but pretty dry. Little spice. Meatballs were good. Needed more sauce. This used to be my fave Italian restaurant - no more.
