I want to start by saying that I appreciate the employees who show up and do a difficult job every day. This review is not meant to attack the staff personally. However, I do think there needs to be more focus on quality instead of simply pushing out food as fast as possible, because customer satisfaction matters just as much as quantity.
I ordered a Sausage Egg McMuffin with cheese, and honestly, I’d rate it about a 4/10. The sausage patty was the biggest issue. It had virtually no browning or char on it at all. Instead of tasting like it had been cooked on a griddle, it had the texture and flavor of something that had been microwaved or boiled. The consistency was strange and unappetizing. On top of that, the round egg had a greenish yolk, which immediately made it seem old and far from fresh.
I took advantage of a buy-one-get-one-free offer, but that wasn’t much of a deal when the first sandwich was so bad that I ended up throwing the second one away.
As a backup, I also ordered a sausage breakfast burrito. Surprisingly, it was even worse than the McMuffin. The inside of the burrito was almost watery. I’m not sure if ingredients weren’t drained properly or if it had been sitting too long, but it was unpleasant. Once again, the sausage had that same microwaved texture instead of tasting freshly cooked. I used to buy McDonald’s sausage burritos regularly years ago and genuinely enjoyed them, so this was especially disappointing.
The only part of the meal that was decent was the hash brown, and even that could have been cooked a little longer to make it crispier.
I also ordered a caramel cappuccino with an extra shot of espresso. The drink was so overwhelmingly sweet that it was nearly undrinkable. I couldn’t taste the espresso at all, despite paying for an extra shot. It was basically liquid sugar. I actually ended up making my own espresso at home and adding it to the drink just to make it tolerable, which completely defeated the purpose of ordering coffee from McDonald’s in the first place.
After DoorDash fees, delivery charges, and tip, this meal cost around $35. For that amount of money, I expected food that was at least fresh and properly prepared. Instead, most of it ended up in the trash.
Again, I appreciate the employees who work hard every day, but management and staff need to remember that quality matters. Fast service means very little if the food being served isn’t something customers actually want to eat.
