I am offended by how good this was. The inability to set this apart from the other restaurants I've given 5 stars to is a great diservice to those who do not read the reviews. The Quesabirrias Trio was on point and the consume is worth drinking. Those Carne Asada Fries tho...they stand apart on a whole nother level. Delicious. I travel a lot and have my favorites all over the country. I got my spot for Indian in Atlanta...my favorite Korean joint in Chicago...and now...my place for Birria in Monterey.

Was disappointed to begin with when we ordered Dr Pepper & Coke was substituted, not a fan of Coke. My husband liked his quesdilla, the chips are sad, taste a little stale, could be that they put the poorly sealed salsa cup in the bag & they got moisture from that. My Quesaburro was supposed to have guac & finally got a smidge of it more than half way through it, mostly just meat, beans & rice, not a super burrito like I expected it to be.

Rare gem
Finally a Mexican restaurant that serves authentic Mexican food. It's even harder to find a place in this area that sells a delicious torta. Seriously no other restaurant compares. I've tried almost all the Mexican restaurants in Seaside and Monterey. Quality food and flavors lack, to say the least. I'm so happy to finally get a real Mexican torta. I got the Famous Torta Tijuana. I wish I remembered to take a picture before I devoured it.

Customer service is alright. No one greeted me when I was waiting at the counter. Had to wait 5 minutes before someone finally acknowledged and helped me. Ordered the Mar Y Tierra Burrito. The beans were plain, the rice was bland, the shrimp was lacking in seasoning and was scarce, the proteins were on one side of the burrito and the rice was on the other side of the burrito. The beef flavor was adequate. The rice and beans took up 2/3rds of the whole burrito. Unfortunately, I won't be returning.

Birria tacos and birria ramen were bland. No spice. Also not many noodles in the birria ramen. Bean and cheese burrito comes with pinto beans not retried beans and the cheese wasn't melted and it was room temp when I got it.
