This review will include only my honest feedback based on my years eating food on this earth, that is it.
The fried chicken is amazing - I think they use a soy skin that they make in house which is incredible, props to them on that always.
The chili is horrifyingly disgusting. To me, inedible, and I eat everything. I'm not sure what keeps happening with the chili but I've tried twice now and that's enough for me. I almost want to ask to see the chili or sample it aside from anything else, but I haven't done so yet.
The Mac and cheese is pretty middling - not flavorful, not special, but at least it's good enough. It's not dry at all. But the flavor is just lacking.
The mashed potatoes are almost positively boxed flakes rehydrated in the kitchen which isn't inherently bad, I do like the quality of them. But it feels like the price could be lower considering the shelf life and other considerable benefits to the restaurant with the use of dehydrated flakes. Again, I like the flavor, but it's not restaurant quality, it's boxed flake quality. Thickness of mash varies on the day you go, sometimes very very thick and sometimes smoother and less like playdough. Amount of gravy also varies - from plenty to barely any (like 1.5 tbsp). They really need the gravy if you're going to get them, but obviously you don't want to pay out of pocket for extra gravy.
The bacon is extremely salty and not enjoyable to me.
The ranch is very good, the sauces I've tried are very good.
Tater tots are fresh, fries are fresh, and the cakes are to die for. The Bavarian cake is absolutely divine.
Side salad should be valued wholesale at $0.20 considering it's just iceberg lettuce with barely anything going on at all - and it's in a very very very small container. I don't know why I would ever be skimpy with iceberg lettuce, it has to be one of the absolute cheapest ingredients you can source. Unless there's a current market shortage on iceberg that I'm ignorant to. If that's the case I'm sorry obviously, I don't know everything, not at all.
The food is always fresh, and the portions are great, other than what I may have mentioned otherwise in this review. I will always be back, but not for the salad, not for the "chili."
I severely and truly appreciate what this restaurant does for us customers - what I've written is only a reflection of my experiences.
I don't want a future without doomies or their sister stores.
