I am glad we rediscovered Papa Johns a few months ago!!! We had stopped ordering from them over 10 years ago, but when the other pizza options on DoorDash were too expensive, we tried Papa John's through DD using their 35 percent off for Epic Stuffed Crust Pizza. OMG! Delicious!!! 100 stars on a 1-5 star rating scale! Why? No grease!!! I know (or believe), other places do not pour grease on their pizza or soak the dough in it overnight ... but at some national chain places or even some local shops, it sure tastes like and your post-pizza body feels like they do. Also, the Papa John's Epic Stuffed Crust Pizza is dow-right DELICIOUS!!! The veggies always taste super fresh, and they taste and have the texture and flavor bomb of freshly chopped in-store fresh veggies! (Create-your-own Epic Stuffed Crust Pizza examples: - tomato and onions! - Mushrooms! - Hatch green chilis! - jalapeños!, mushrooms, bell peppers, notions (sometimes tomatoes, too)!
I love that they include a cup of garlic dip and a pepperoni. I don't actually like dipping their Epic Stuffed Crust Pizza in the dip because the pizza and its veggies are SO FRESH!!! Dipping this fresh deliciousness into processed oil really defeats the very freshness that sets them apart. But sometimes, for some insane reason, we feel like dipping the crust in it, and we're very grateful they've included it, because we would not have thought ahead to order it. Plus, including it and the pepper visually reflect "you get a great value with us; we're not trying to nickel and dime you." Speaking of nickels and dimes ... they offer seasoning packets, parm and red peppers for a few cents extra. I don't actually know why, but my guess is it is to prevent waste. Too often, if we request parm & peppers elsewhere, we get a handful of packets. How many packets of red pepper flakes do people really put on a single pizza? 1? Maybe 2, if you accidentally the leftovers from the first packet away after using it on the 1st slice??? Or do you really consume an entire packet with each slice??? And Parmesan, ... if it's fresh, then no question - sometimes it's delicious on pizza. But the packets of whatever is labeled Parmesan, does it really enhance the flavor of your pizza, when the pizza is so fresh? And last, the "pizza seasoning" packets. They give me heartburn. No need to say more.
Papa John's, if you keep offering the Epic Stuffed Crust Pizza at its currently discounted rate, we'll continue to order it. If you charge full price, we'll most likely switch back to homemade or family-owned or local artisan, oven baked pizzas, just because we love the convenience of DoorDash but need to find freshness at a good value price.
