black sesame spaetzl is a really unusual and excellent dish. i sometimes order it as a side dish for my own homemade main courses. goes well with fried chicken or a steak.

so compared to the crab pot; the fish n chips was very low quality in terms of the batter. both instances I've traveled 15 mins after picking up my order and stopping to eat the food and crab pots batter didn't get soggy and stick to the fries like Roe's did. their tartar sauce is equivalent to cheap bulk sauce you'd get to save money, crab pots tartar sauce seemed homemade. their roe sauce was good tho and made eating the fish somewhat enjoyable. the clam chowder is on more of a brothy variation and it was good for that if you were seeking something on the lighter side. good clam chowder in it's more popular variation is thick and creamy. Roe's clams wasn't chewy like rubber so that was a good sign assuming it was because they were previously frozen. fries were ok. btw $22 for fish n chips from this place is not worth the consideration. look elsewhere like crab pot or outside of lbc. clam chowder and fish n chips is something I get thrilled about and are just about the most important dish I look for to gage the quality of their overall restaurant of any which I go to. also key thing for fish n chips to stay crusty and no soggy is to keep the lid cracked open so steam doesn't destroy the quality of the batter; a store in north Hollywood revealed this and I traveled 15 mins same as any other trip to test and NH was by far the best.

Was pricey for mediocre chowder. Very thick, from too much corn starch. Didnt come with bread.
