I was not impressed with my meal, especially given how much it cost. $22 for basic jollof rice with a piece of meat that was 75% fat and skin. The egusi was tasty but had sand in it. And the iyan (poundo) does not taste like or look like poundo.

I am someone who enjoys all types of food. I am not picky and extremely opened minded. This was my first time eating Egusi and Designer Stew . And if these two dishes were accurately made I cannot say I will ever try them again. Let's begin with the good points. The fufu it came with was soft, fluffy but yet gooey at the same time-almost like a mochi but not as chewy. I actually found the fufu delightful. The packaging was on point--the food came boxed well, bagged and then bagged again in a paper bag. The packing was so well that the smell that emitted from the food was very well contained and thoroughly surprised us when we opened the bag. It reminded me of a medicinal steam bath my grandmother used to make when she would get sick mixed with too burnt roux. This is exactly what the designer stew tasted like but spicy too. It looked truly burnt. From photos and videos I've seen designer stew does not look the way this looked. As of roux was burnt to a crispy and became the foundation for this dish. We couldn't go beyond two bites and had to trash the dish. As for the Egusi we kept trying and trying it. The only thing we can say we liked was the texture but truly wanted to love it so badly. However, the Egusi was bland and fishy. I had always imagined it would be a dish well seasoned but it was simply fishy and bland. This dish was also thrown away. I will have to research again and ask around. I am hoping it was simply this particular restaurant.

Tiny protein portions (only one catfish piece, not even so big) and so much stew, doesn't worth the price I paid

Ordered Egusi and it was scorthed really bad and tasted burnt. Completely inedible. Also ordered the Beans with Turkey meat and portion of meat as very skimpy. The beans did have good flavor. The moin moin was very bland.

It was delicious. My only complaint is that it wasn't spicy enough and not enough vegetables. I loved that it wasn't too much salt. Very good portion. Meat was extremely tender. Will definitely be ordering again.
