Top notch, perfectly cooked 1/2lb Smoked Beef Brisket and 1/2 lb. Pork Rib Tips. It difficult to find quality BBQ in SF . These guys take the prize .

Sadly, tried a couple times and the meat always arrives very overcooked. Last order was mesquite chicken and the dark meat was overcooked it had that thick layer under the skin. The breast and wing were inedible.
However, the gumbo is excellent. Some of the best I had in the Bay area. Would only ever order that in the future.

Brisket was burnt, dry and hard with too much fat. Even the bbq sauce didn't help it.
The chicken sandwich didn't taste freshly fried and was too small to fit the bun.
The fries were good.

I have eaten at hardwood a dozen times and always get the brisket. It is always delicious; best in the city. Tonight I tried the tri-tip and it was literally not edible. It was so tough that I think the leather soles on the bottom of my shoes would be more tender. After speaking to some others who have had the tri-tip there, it appears that is the general consensus. . And the size of the corn muffin shrunk by half. It's now like the size of a donut hole. Shame
