On Friday, January 2, while searching for a local soul food fix, DoorDash introduced me to Jackson and Goodwin Soul Food. I read the glowing reviews, placed my order—and immediately wished I had gone in person. That feeling deepened the moment Simone offered me a sample of the duck. One bite in and I knew without question: next time, I’m ordering the duck.
From the warm, genuine welcome by owners Simone and Robert to the spontaneous dessert tastings, this was hospitality at its finest. They should be selling customer service lessons too. I promptly expanded my order to include coconut cake, a large Uptown, and turkey soup. Everything was made with fresh ingredients and love and the order was ready before DoorDash’s quoted time.
And then there were the little details the kind that tell you a place truly cares. The packaging was thoughtful and warm, right down to the Dum Dum lollipop tucked inside. That small, playful touch felt like a wink from the kitchen and perfectly captured the spirit of Jackson and Goodwin: generous
The Food:
Fried Chicken (dark meat): Expertly seasoned, crisp, and not greasy, comfort done right.
Mac & Cheese: Lusciously cheesy and deeply satisfying.
Potato Salad: Perfectly moist with just the right balance of seasoning and mayo.
Sweet Potatoes & Collard Greens (with turkey): Fresh and soulful
Turkey Soup: Even better the next day pure comfort in a bowl.

Catfish taste like it just came out the sea, the amc and cheese is pretty much kraft Mac and cheese with real shredded cheese. The yams were decent, over all if you're looking for good authentic soul food this is not the place. Literally over priced and doesnt taste well, money down the drain literally. I have to order a whole new meal.
