Best restaurant in Statesboro and has been for thirty years! For consistency, service, value, and cheerful atmosphere, nothing beats El Sombrero. I've eaten at Mi Tierra in San Antonio, all the ritzy"Southwest" in Vegas, and this is a better experience right here in Statesboro.

El Som has really gone downhill recently (as of July 2023). Their portions are smaller, price is higher, and quality is poor. The chicken pieces in the Alambres were small and burnt to a crisp. The beans were paired with the sour cream and lettuce, which made them incredibly watery by the time they arrived. Horrible!

My tea was sour. Guacamole was a little brown. Not my usual service from El Som. Was a little disappointed.

the Texas fajitas were so overcooked it was look chewing on rubber. the stuffed cheesecake dessert was also extremely stale and they should separate the ice cream from the dessert if it is being delivered. it was a mess.

Use to be amazing, has went down hill a lot. Changed the potato in the papa rellana, and the cheese sauce on top on food is more watery. Just one of the many things that use to be amazing that has fell off in Statesboro.
