You need to be really hungry if you're going to order the BIGFOOT Chicken Fried Steak. I ordered it with loaded country potatoes and I chose biscuit and gravy for the bread. The steak was huge, potatoes were crisp with bacon, cheese and veggies, I got two huge biscuits smothered in country gravy. The steak had gravy as you would expect, and everything was still hot. I know the temp is always an uncertainty

Bacon was great, well cooked. Pancakes and eggs also cooked to perfection. Unfortunately, the amount of gravy for the biscuit & gravy cub meal was insufficient. Big biscuit as usual but not enough gravy to cover half the biscuit. So dry and that was the main part of my kids dinner. Mistakes happen.

The Iced Creamy Mocha Cold Brew was received (Hooray! And thank you Black Bear restaurant). Two previous restaurants failed to deliver an order request you found so easy to deliver on. I've been craving an Iced Mocha for days and yours was delicious down to the very last drop.
The Patty Melt was however a slight fail but it was totally my fault. I didn't factor in the travel time, and that the restaurant might be sending the Patty Melt in a closed plastic container, as I have been ordering from fast food restaurants of late and they all wrap their products in paper or thin open cardboard. Plus, BlackBear was 4 miles away and the fast food restaurants are all located much closer.
So short story---a year ago I ordered a delicious Shrimp and Steak dinner as a surprise on my son's birthday from a local restaurant. I wanted the meals to arrive perfectly cooked to the right temperature. So I ordered the Steaks to be cooked rare--one temperature degree below what we prefer them as, which is medium rare. And This allowed for the resting time at the restaurant, and the travel time in the hot box, when the steaks would continue to cook in their own juices on the way to our table. The steaks arrived a perfect medium rare temperature and our dinner celebration was a huge success.
I failed to consider that in ordering the Patty Melt from BlackBear. and mistakenly ordered the cook as well done. I was able to eat 1/2 of the sandwich though and it was very tasty and I loved the slightly sharp Swiss Cheese they used. But by the time I tried to eat the 2nd half of the sandwich it had cooled some and become too hard. So lesson learned and I won't make that mistake again. All was not lost though, as the French fries which were in the same container were perfectly delicious, hot, and not even a little bit soggy, which is not always the case as French fries rarely travel well.
So well done Black Bear! You executed my order perfectly and gave me exactly what I asked for. I will be ordering again soon and will perhaps try something else on your delicious menu...and of course I will definitely order another Iced Mocha.

I absolutely love the Bob's Big Bear Burger with extra Bacon. it's a big burger, but you're going to need plenty of napkins, lol, once you pick it up you had better not put it down. it's big, it's very delicious, it's messy, but a gooood messy. Highly recommend for a big appetite burger lover. Also the 5 Layer Chocolate Cake is delicious.

Black Bear Diner is by far the best breakfast restaurant in Redding, California. It feels like a little piece of old-school Americana that I hope always remains. I love Hannah!!!
My recommendation: two people should split one ScramBOWL (spelled just like that). Skip the ham and substitute extra crispy bacon—it’s absolutely heavenly.
The manager, Jim, is a kind and excellent gentleman. If you order on DoorDash and happen to be out of ketchup at home, he makes sure you get plenty. Austin, the young man who answered the phone, was polite, professional, and a class act as well. Both of them went above and beyond—Redding is lucky to have them.
Five stars across the board. And here’s a tip: if you order through DoorDash and spend $20 or more, you get $6 off. Delivered, it can actually cost less than dining in. What a deal!
