• 22/1/26This is my new favorite! The chicken was delicious!! Some of the best chicken I've ever eaten. I ordered the mixed 2 piece meal and I got a wing and breast. The meat was fresh, tender, and well seasoned. I will definitely be ordering again soon. Very filling with the french fries, dinner roll, and Pepsi.

• 11/2/26I ordered the 8 piece mixed white/dark chicken, the coleslaw, small fries, and a large Horchata drink. Unfortunately, I placed my order shortly before they stopped accepting DoorDash orders - so they were close to closing time, and the quality of the food reflected that fact. I got dried out chicken that was hard to chew and tasteless - I only ate one piece and then shredded the other pieces of chicken to give to my dogs as toppers for the meals. They appreciated it more than I did. The fries were cold and stale as if they had been sitting around for a while. The coleslaw was a passable...it is hard to screw that up. The only decent aspect of the meal was the Salvadoran Horchata.
I have ordered from Pollo Campero before both in El Salvador decades ago and from this location on Waters St. The original Salvadoran Pollo Campero was great back then; in fact, it was so great, that Salvadorans often traveled from El Salvador to the US with bags of Pollo Campero for the Stateside family members - the planes used to smell like chicken.
However, the current Pollo Campero location on Waters Street in Tampa is a far cry from what the Salvadoran chain used to be like - it is truly been hit and miss every time I've ordered from this location since their opening in 2025. When they get it right then the food is good, but too often they don't and their employees (including the manager) don't seem to care - she became argumentative one time when I called to complain about missing items from the order - the expeditor should caught the missing items. But I digress.
Here is the key take away, don't order just before closing time and also, based on my prior experience, don't order during peak lunch and dinner times becasuse that is when they are rushed and they overlook items. This is not a restaurant that I would heartedly endorse, but the food can be decent at times and I will order again, but I will be more judicious about when I place the order. Give it a try, but temper your expectations.
