Sichuan cuisine is well-known in China and worldwide yet, except in Chengdu and Chongqing, the best authentic Sichuan cuisine can still be found at Spices 3. Whether you are a regular customer or a fi…
This place is fantastic. I've ordered the fish in red oil and wontons in red oil about a billion times and they're superb. Highly recommend the twice cooked bacon too. So much flavour, great value and always piping hot. I'd eat here every day if I could.

Sad. Spices 3 is wack and not good Sichuan. Dan dan noods make me want to cry (in a bad way-- lots of noodles, ridiculously tiny bit of meat, no fresh aromatics) and mapo tofu has zero mala. Next time I want sichuan I'd rather walk 15 miles round trip to get China Village or Sichuan Style Restaurant in Albany than eat Spices 3 again. More like Spices zero! Waste of money

This place simply does not miss. Very hard to find any, let alone good, szechuan food.
The 水鱼 Fish in Red Oil is my go to.
Tried the 辣炒面 Spicy Chow Mein today bc of my confidence in the restaurant (most places' chow mein is a let down). But this was surprisingly good. Especially with the multiple proteins.
Anyways, this place is awesome.
Touch my camera through the fence.

Spices 3 is the best restaurant in Oakland--hands down! Always my favorite. Go eat there in person and get their hot pot (which they obviously can't deliver). It's amazing!
Twice Cooked Bacon, Eggplant, (anything) with explosive chili peppers, and cucumbers are all favorites. Do yourself a favor and support this place! A gem!!

Wanted to love these items but the noodles in the 辣炒面 Spicy Chow Mein are super skinny and hard like italian spaghetti instead of thick and slippery/oily like Chinese. The fried 重付 Tofu with Explosive has a strange aftertaste that is only comparible to something fermented like kimchi which would be amazing for someone who likes kimchi but I unfortunately do not like kimchi so this sensation was very off-putting. The 茄子 Eggplant in Garlic was just OK but the one thing they did cook to perfection was the A菜 Chinese Watercress --that was chefs kiss!
