"If pastries are your thing, La Madeleine genuinely delivers. Their Nutella muffins are sooo tasty and some of the most consistently good baked goods I’ve found. The flavor is almost always there--I’ve only ever had one pastry box of them that was off. The croissant dough is really solid too, and so naturally the ham and cheese croissant shows that off well. I’ve also gotten the tarte au citron for my partner, who is a serious lemon lover, and it’s been a hit every time.
But outside of the pastry case, I’ve been disappointed more times than I can excuse at this point. I’ve tried the Croque Monsieur with the broccoli cheddar and country potato soups, and the lemonade, none of which really impressed me. I also ordered a frosted sugar cookie that came with none at all (listing even noted that frosting color varies by location, so clearly it’s supposed to come frosted).
I keep giving it another shot hoping something will surprise me, but at this point I think their strength is very clearly in the baked goods. And if you’re ordering anything beyond pastries like drinks, hot food, or even expecting your order to come out right, just go in knowing it might not meet expectations."

"The previous orders from this restaurant were very good, but this one, not so much. The biggest disappointment was my main course, the club sandwich. The bread was very soggy because the sauces were placed right on the them and since there was no option to have them on the side, had I known I would have skipped them, however with the tomatoes also directly on the bread it probably would have ended up the same, soggy. Take out food needs to be compiled differently than food eaten in a restaurant people! With prices higher than full service, these alterations should be 2nd nature by now, since they make the difference between Woo hoo and ohhh no you did not just give me soggy bread. The most egregious aspect of the sandwich however was the lurkey, manufactured food product we call lunchmeat, pretending to be turkey, each having no semblance to the other. For a $20 sandwich, I expect the turkey to taste like the Thanksgiving kind, unfortunately it did not. Then the combination of salty lurkey and naturally salty bacon, made for an odd flavor profile, which was...well..., not so good. I was pleased however that there were excellent substitions offered for the tired, dreaded french fry (which always ends up arriving in a tired condition) at a zero to low added fee. I chose the street corn which left me wanting much, much more and that pulled the sandwich from 1 star to 2 stars. The Bavarian pretzels were sadly overcooked but the cheese sauce was excellent and was made with real cheese, wow, a pleasant surprise. So after eating corn for dinner, with nothing savory left in my bag, I was forced to do something I would not normally do, (ohh I am such a liar), have cake for dinner. Yes it was expensive, but the size was quite large and the icing was made from scratch, but having an excuse to eat cake for dinner makes it taste even better (that part is true), hence an extra star."

"IHOP - We like it. It's less expensive than other 'sit-down' and eat breakfast places (pls see this as a breakfast review). They're reliable and most meals are good. Today's experience was a little disappointing as the Eggs Benedict (EB) was requested with Hollandaise on the side but it wasn't included at all. Maybe a mixed blessing because the EB package didn't make it with the packaging in tact.
I need to say that there have been times that IHOP is exactly what we want and that's why we've been loyal customers for more than 3 decades. This little incident won't change our ordering habits, it just happened. May I say, the poached eggs were outstanding? Also, no straw.
