I recently had the pleasure of trying a selection of dishes that transported me directly to Peru, and the experience was simply spectacular. Each dish was a celebration of flavor, texture, and tradition.
Empanadas Del Día (Empanadas of the Day)
We started with the Empanadas Del Día, and they were the perfect omen of what was to come. The pastry was flaky and golden to perfection, crispy on the outside but tender. The filling (which that day was a classic beef) was incredibly savory, well-seasoned, and juicy. It wasn't a dry empanada at all; every bite was comforting and delicious. A 10/10 start!
Arroz Chaufa con Carne (Beef Fried Rice)
Next, I tried the Arroz Chaufa con Carne. This is not just any fried rice; it's a masterpiece of Chifa (Peruvian-Chinese fusion) cuisine. The rice had that unmistakable smoky "wok hei" flavor that is so hard to achieve. The pieces of beef were tender and mixed beautifully with the rice, scrambled eggs, and fresh green onions. It was flavorful, satisfying, and perfectly balanced. I could eat an entire plate of this without stopping.
Tallarín a la Huancaína con Lomo Saltado (Huancaína-Style Noodles with Saltado Steak)
Finally, the star of the show: the Tallarín a la Huancaína con Lomo Saltado. What an incredible combination! The pasta was perfectly cooked "al dente" and bathed in a creamy, velvety Huancaína sauce, which had just the right balance of fresh cheese, ají amarillo (yellow chili), and a subtle spicy kick.
But topping that pasta with Lomo Saltado is pure genius. The steak was tender, juicy, and stir-fried to the exact point, with that characteristic smoky flavor, accompanied by red onions and tomatoes that still retained their texture. The combination of the creamy pasta sauce with the savory juices from the lomo saltado was simply divine. It's a hearty dish, packed with flavor, and
absolutely unforgettable.

"I ordered the Grass-Fed Tri-Tip Bowl (gf) with garlic mashed potatoes, roasted butternut squash, and chimichurri on Friday. It was so good I wanted it again today, Sunday. I'm really surprised and disappointed by major inconsistencies in just a couple days. The butternut squash was cut smaller and cooked more tender on Friday, and today it's large, harder, flavorless chunks. Mashed potatoes had good flavor on Friday; today they are bland. Even the tri-tip was better Friday; several of Sunday's chunks have tough pieces. The food options are unique, which I appreciate, but these inconsistencies don't command the price. It will be a while before I might try this restaurant again."

"Food comes in a disposable insulated bag which sorta puts me off of ordering from them again due to the waste. The shots are very small and come in those tiny sauce containers but it was good! The Orange Juice and Banana Bread were both good and the smallest size açaí bowl had lots of toppings instead of just being mostly açaí base. The mango was reasonably sweet for being out of season."
