At Gai, we serve the slow poached chicken with rice as a classic dish. This Hainanese dish, also known in Thailand as khao man gai, employs a traditional slow poaching technique to extract clean chick…
We've ordered from this place a few times and usually love it - however, we noticed their portions significantly got smaller? For roughly $15 an entree we thought we'd get much more, particularly the chicken. We're still hungry after eating this meal :( still delicious though!!

I love their crispy chicken with chicken rice. It's very flavourful and still tastes great when re-heated. I strongly recommend the Hainan sauce - the ginger complements the chicken really well. The extra meat option is a good value for the price too.

I feel like the chicken rice at Gai is the unspoken hero of the dish. I got the Mixed Gai and it was delicious, per usual. I get this quite regularly. I love the soup that comes with it, and the Hainan sauce is super flavorful. Everything tastes so fresh and the portions are bountiful! Comfort food like this is hard to come by, so of course I will come back again and again.

Crispy gai is always my favorite. Juicy inside and crispy outside, the chicken rice is very delicious but much more if it is half chicken rice half salad, my perfect combination. Super fresh food, I will definitely order one next time.

The rice has an overwhelming amount of ginger, making it taste mostly salty and spicy. The chicken was overly salty, and the soup was packed with green onions, lacking the usual flavor of chicken soup. This is definitely not the chicken rice I'm used to. I’d say Rooster and Rice is much better.
