I'm always skeptical when ordering teppanyaki /hibachi to go as it's never nearly as good as when it's served to you immediately after cooking. I've also found that I'm never as pleased with the flavors of the iconic Japanese steakhouse salad dressing, soup or dipping sauces compared to Benihana. The regional variances always seem to taste like the not-nearly-as-good-looking little brother of the high school quarterback looks: you can tell they're related but there's something not quite right.
Regardless! I also get very frustrated with all the nickel-and-dime nonsense from the local places. You're ordering it delivered? Then it doesn't come with vegetables... they're extra. You're getting it to-go? Then you have to pay for sauce and if you want extra, then you have to REALLY pay.
We have all come to accept the ridiculous up-charge from the places that are on this platform and others, which is why we have cut our deliveries by at least 75%. If you order the dish in the restaurant, it's $18. If you order it to be delivered, it's $23 and they do that for every dish PLUS the new delivery fees. I don't mind the tip bc we would be tipping at the restaurant and honestly, I really appreciate someone bringing it to me.
If you're still with me, here is my take on Sumo Fusion.
We ordered for the first time a few days ago. We had never had their food before, usually choosing a place out of Winchester for our teppanyaki cravings and a place on Foxcroft for our Chinese or sushi wants.
I saw the new and improved increased prices of our usual Winchester places AND the new delivery fee increases so I wanted to see if there any new options. Sumo Fusion popped up. The prices are higher than their menu prices on their website, but no worse than the other places. However, their charge for extra dressing, extra side items, eggroll were 25% to 50% less than our usual places. We figured we would give it a shot.
I'm so glad we did! We ordered one chicken eggroll and a steak and chicken teppanyaki meal with extra fried rice, vegetables as well as an extra soup. There was so much food! Even splitting it with my husband, we had enough for two meals (and a couple fried rice snacks in between).
The salad dressing, soups and sauces, in our snobbish opinions, are better than most around here.
The steak was cooked perfectly, as was the chicken... not dried out chunks of meat that are simply delivery devices for sub-par sauce.
The rice was moist and seemed to be made with sushi rice vs whatever dry long-grained rice some of the places use.
And the eggroll ... we got it as a test for their non-grilled items. Hubs said he'd order it again and after living in San Francisco, that's high praise.

Sorry but this place was a miss for me ): the pad thai had a generous portion but the flavor was just off and a little dry. The egg in it was good though. My sushi rolls and crab Rangoon were just okay but wouldn't be my first choice in the future. The dressing for the salad was good and it's nice that was included with the pad Thai for the price.

This was my first time ordering from here, and I was not disappointed! I was skeptical since the location was further away ("extended delivery area"), and time can be a disadvantage to a great tasting meal.
Not in this case! Even though the food wasn't hot off the grill, it was still plenty warm (packaging, and I'm sure the Dasher's help as well!) That did not even matter as everything was absolutely delicious! My mouth literally watered from the Yellow Curry , and the portion size for that, as well as the H. Chicken & Shrimp were more than generous. Even the Tiramisu (which did take a little hit from the delivery distance...I couldn't expect THAT to hold like original), was very enjoyable!
I wouldn't hesitate to reorder from here, and I'm certain I will!
Fantastic Meal!!!

Everything was cooked well.
Nothing tasted off putting or dry. It was a good balance, which is always a thumbs up for us.
They serve/deliver enough food for days. Definitely worth the cost. Fresh tasting veggies, too.
Only complaint is the styrofoam. Just not a fan of that material and the chemicals it releases into food/environment.
Other than that, we love their food and will order again down the road.

My very favorite is the Mini Spring Roll (4). The Spicy sauce is just right. I am not much with sushi, but I do order H. Chicken & Steak. The portion last for 3 meals.
