• 30/6/26My favorite place! Service is always amazing, the food is phenomenal!! Mac and cheese is the best I've had from any restaurant and is a staple with any meal along with the rice and peas. The bread pudding is so good!! Only bad thing is they are closed on Mondays. Ox tails are full of flavor, ribs fall off the bone tender each bite packed with sauce and seasonings. Jerk chicken best I've had, even just a quesadilla is a home run! The curry goat is perfect mix of flavor and tender. Portion size is great absolutely get your moneys worth! They put love into every meal and you can taste it!

• 5/8/25This is our new favorite spot. We love Jamaica and this food taste so authentic! The Brown Stew Chicken and Curry Goat has so much flavor!!! Also, make sure you get Jamaican Patties!!!! All of it was absolutely delicious.

B&T Island Roots offered a soulful spread that danced between ancestral seasoning and uneven execution. We ordered two plates: curry goat with white rice and mac & cheese, and oxtails with rice and beans and cabbage.
✨ Star Proteins
The curry goat and oxtails were the undeniable stars; tender, richly seasoned, and layered with flavor that felt like a homecoming. Each bite carried the kind of ancestral memory that makes you pause and reflect. These proteins were not just cooked, they were curated.
🧀 Mac & Cheese: A Stretch of Glory
The mac & cheese deserves its own altar. Creamy, indulgent, and unexpectedly playful, the cheese stretched like pizza—an unexpected delight that turned a side dish into a sensory ritual. It was the kind of comfort food that teaches you something about joy.
🥬 Cabbage: Almost There
The cabbage was seasoned with care, but its texture betrayed the intention. Some pieces were soft and welcoming, others hard and jarring, like a conversation that started well but ended abruptly. It disrupted the flow of the plate.
🍚 Rice: A Missed Opportunity with a Path Forward
Both rice offerings disrupted the harmony of the plate. The white rice was mushy and flavorless, tasting more like water than intention. The rice and beans were half-cooked and served cold, the coldest item on the plate. It felt forgotten, and in that forgetting, something communal was lost.
For future refinement, I’d suggest B&T Island Roots consider using basmati or jasmine rice. Both varieties hold a firmer texture when steamed and carry their own fragrant dignity. They honor the plate with structure and subtle aroma, transforming a side dish into a sensory anchor.

This meal carried the potential for ritual and restoration. The proteins and mac & cheese were a triumph of flavor and texture. But the inconsistent sides; especially the rice, remind us that every dish is a conversation, and every plate is a chance to honor the whole story. With refinement, this meal could become a full altar of ancestral hospitality.

• 4/5/26Even before throwing on the Jerk sauce, the Jerk chicken is the BEST grilled chicken you'll ever taste. The jerk sauce takes it over the top.
