I’ve been eating breakfast sandwiches three times a week across NY and NJ for the past 25 years, and I’ve got to say—Belles Bagels just cracked my top 10. I only tried them because my usual spot in Cranford was out of what I wanted, so I took a chance… and I’m really glad I did.

I so wanted to love this place. Bagels are ok, but I think they bake them instead of boiling or whatever other bagel stores do. They're more like a roll than a bagel. Not bad taste, just not bagel-like. I would try them again if the prices weren't crazy. $19 for a small bagel with lox. I wish them the very best of luck and want to support local businesses, but also have to give honest reviews :(

Where the heck is the cream cheese? I usually have the opposite problem where I need to remove some, but both of our cream cheese bagels had about one tablespoon of cream cheese each, plopped directly in the center of the bagel. The bagel itself was goo but wow the lack of CC really bombed the experience (got bacon too, which helped, but I'm annoyed that the easiest part of the order was neglected). Hope they sort that out.

I decided to try something different and had the Jalapeño Bagel, absolutely delish! It's great to have a bagel spot in town that has really good bagels!
