I've lived in this neighborhood for 9 years, but this was my first time trying Ed's. Maannnn... I've been missing out. They're like the best of both worlds between Mandy's and Petes. Personally I only go to Pete's for their shrimp, I just don't like the fish at Pete's, but I love their shrimp and sauce. At Mandys, I only go for the fish, theyre shrimp is good just nothing special, but Mandys sauce game is weak, sorry but it's true. Well today I learned Ed's shrimp is just as good as Pete's and similar flavor profile... but the fish at Ed's Fish & Chips is better. I could see the filet, it was slightly firmer, but similar cut and coating, and their sauce hits that spot usually only Pete's can...so my fellow Avondale and Goodyear folks, I'd skip the trip to Tolleson for Pete's, and try this spot. Don't let the reviews fool you. I don't know who goes to a fish spot to order a chicken sandwich but it's a fish spot, it's in the name. I don't go to a Chinese restaurant when I'm craving pizza you know...anyway...all the seafood was good. We also tried the fried Mushrooms but I'll probably still pick those up from Mandy's. Ed's was good, crunchy outside, delicious mushroom inside but just more breading than I'd want especially when you're eating fried food on top of fried food. The Crab & Chips was tasty, but I realized the texture of crab was a little too soft for me and I preferred the shrimp. I ordered a scallop based on another reviewers order, but they were out so they subbed it with a second piece of shrimp. At this point you can guess I was glad for the exchange because the shrimp was fire.Last we tried the Burrito. It's just a fried frozen burritos like those I'd fry at home not bad... but not something I'd drive there for. The french fries were good, classic diner fry, yes they're not salted but between the fried food it balances out so I appreciate that...I love love love their red sauce with the everything, fries included. I like their tartar sauce better than Mandy's. I used my DoorDash deal and some credits to splurge and try a little of everything, it was just over $40 which is on par with what I usually spend for me and my 3 kids, so overall I thought the value for price was fair, and I'll be back for sure.
