GC is always wonderful for food and service. chicken & side orders are always fresh and hot. The rolls are among the best I've tried. it's hard to find fried okra but here it's great. I like that they offer a 2nd side if you don't need a drink and they have a fresh cold side salad available.

the pieces were very small and I don't know if they are using old cooking oil or if they are just frying it way too long but the skin was completely burnt and the white meat was tough..the mac n cheese was good and fried okra was ok..they used to have the best fried chicken in Oak Hill..but gone down hill the last year

The Golden Roast is the savior of Golden Chick. Lets face it - the fried chicken is among the most flavorless fried chickens out there. Popeyes dominates them. KFC is better by a mile. And lets not even make it worse by talking about Lucy's or Gus's... But their roast bird is absolutely delicious and rivals even HEB's Rotisserie chicken which is no small order. Love it.

The fried okra was bad. It had a really bad taste and really cold. We had ordered it a few days ago, and that fried okra was really great. Crispy crunchy and was still warm.

Went with GC over Popeyes because its reviews were higher but it was a mistake. I will give credit to the Big & Golden Chicken Sandwich since it wasn't too bad, but the rest of the meal had 0 flavor. The mac n cheese tasted like cafeteria food, the Mashed Potatoes came without gravy so there was no hiding the blandness of that dish, and the Fresh-Baked Rolls were so cool by the time they got to me I ended up throwing them away.
