First time ordering from here and everything was absolutely delicious. The cuts on the Sashimi Deluxe were freaking THICK and the taste was very fresh. I also think 22 pieces for the price is very reasonable. Everything tasted extremely fresh! They were also very considerate with packaging some sauces separately so it would not leak onto other rolls, thank you. Will definitely order from here again!

The salmon is way overcooked for the Salmon Teriyaki Bento. So dry and have no flavor. I don't think the salmon is fresh. No teriyaki sauce either. The pork belly is ok for the BBQ Pork Belly Bento. The shrimp in the Shrimp Tempura Roll is so tiny. Barely tasted any shrimp. Portion is good size for the price. I wouldn't order again.

Found this place on Yelp a while back based on the reviews and ate at the restaurant. I initially almost walked because of how sterile it looked inside but glad I stayed because this is now my go to sushi place.
Kakuna is all about quality fish and sushi at a friendly price without the frills of a fancy dine-in experience. I typically stick to sashimi and Nigiri and they did not dissapoint.
You get more for less to satisfy your raw fish cravings. They even add fresh wasabi on majority of the Nigiri which is typically done at nicer places.
Hamachi here is so good. Sake, Saba, even their Toro which is only offered dine-in was amazing.
This place is a gem and perfect for door-dashing.

Figured since the reviews were so good it would be amazing but it wasn't. There are much better sushi spots to order from in San Jose. Very bulky rolls with too much rice, the raw fish smelt and tasted extremely fishy and didn't seem fresh and the shrimp tempura was salty. The rolls weren't rolled well at all, they fell apart immediately and looked thrown together. Even the miso soup flavor was off and had the tiniest little squares of tofu. I really wanted to like this place because their prices are fair and their portions/ratios are good, however, the rolls were lacking in flavor. Idk what it was but it just wasnt satisfying at all. Crunchy Mango is usually my favorite at sushi restaurants but idk, it just seemed so basic. Even the Mukbang with poke had no flavor. The seaweed salad was the most flavorful. I ordered spicy mayo on the side and it barely helped. Edamame had that hint of spice but no flavor, very bland that I had to add salt. Best item was the Jalapeño Bomb which you can't really mess up.
