The food was good, but not great. The descriptions look good, but the flavors fall just that bit flat.
The LOBSTER BOMB , for the price point, isn't worth it at all. It's good, but not worth getting a second time. It's like a Katsu coating on lobster. The texture is great. The flavors fall flat. The asparagus in, and the sauce on top of, the roll make it better. But, there's nothing to cheer about.
The TRIOLE SEXY is a good roll and the presentation is beautiful. The flavors are subtle, but there. Yes, I'd order this again.
The HOT AND SOUR SOUP is good. I didn't realize there'd be ground chicken or some unidentified meaty substance settling on the bottom. I'm not mad about it, I just think it detracts from the consistency and flavors of the soup itself. No, I wouldn't order this again for that reason. And just because it's not for me, doesn't mean someone else wouldn't like it.
The only real Thumbs Down on this is the EDAMAME .
It's over-boiled mushy beans. I ordered it with salt and it came plain, over boiled, mushy, and bland. The portion is plentiful, but a lot of something yucky is still yucky.
Overall, four out of five stars and I would probably try somewhere else next time. The signature dishes I ordered could have "wowed" me. Instead, I just feel like they phoned it in and didn't really care about the food that went out.
It's fine.
Like Meh-plus. So not three stars and definitely not five.

Very disappointed with this order. First, the Bang Bang Shrimp was tiny, and for $18?! The Summer Spark Roll tasted pretty good, but it was also quite small for the price. Finally, they didn't include the chocolate syrup for the Tempura Cheesecake, nor even included chop sticks. Will definitely not be ordering from here again as it's overpriced and very mediocre.

Not happy with the huge piece of asparagus in the roll as it took over. You are not able to request no asparagus however the description doesn't mention asparagus. I can't eat asparagus so had to remove it from the roll. That was disappointing. The gyoza was not fresh. Probably frozen. Most likely won't order from here again. Much better Japanese food for the same or even less around.

I'm a regular at this place. Had an issue with a delivered dish and John, the owner, refused to remedy. Rolls were soggy. Chiken teriyaki was dry and flavorless. I will order somewhere else. Food at the restaurant is normally good.

I had high hopes for this spot given the great reviews, but unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to expectations. The only item I’d recommend trying is the spicy tuna biscuit (crispy rice) - it’s one of the more popular dishes in the city, though I still found it a bit bland and lacking the flavor I expected.
When I order from a sushi restaurant, I always stick to nigiri to gauge quality. The madai was average at best - not much flavor, and the cuts were too thick, making it a bit chewy. The scallops lacked the soft, buttery texture you’d want, and the salmon belly, while one of the better bites, still felt mediocre overall. Both the tuna and yellowtail tasted a bit old and lacked the fresh color and brightness you’d expect from high-quality fish. The mushroom soup was okay, but nothing memorable.
Overall, this wasn’t worth the price for the quality received. With so many great sushi options in the area, I’d say Koi Sushi Lounge falls short of expectations.
