Sichuan cuisine is well-known in China and worldwide yet, except in Chengdu and Chongqing, the best authentic Sichuan cuisine can still be found at Spices 3. Whether you are a regular customer or a fi…
This place is fantastic. I've ordered the fish in red oil and wontons in red oil about a billion times and they're superb. Highly recommend the twice cooked bacon too. So much flavour, great value and always piping hot. I'd eat here every day if I could.

The seasoning is good, though a bit on the salty side. The chicken pieces are quite small; it feels more like a main dish meant to be eaten with a staple (like rice or noodles) rather than a snack for a gathering. (The portion size is actually quite generous—the photo shows what was left after half had already been eaten.)

Sad. Spices 3 is wack and not good Sichuan. Dan dan noods make me want to cry (in a bad way-- lots of noodles, ridiculously tiny bit of meat, no fresh aromatics) and mapo tofu has zero mala. Next time I want sichuan I'd rather walk 15 miles round trip to get China Village or Sichuan Style Restaurant in Albany than eat Spices 3 again. More like Spices zero! Waste of money

this was some of the worst chinese food we'd ever had. we've ordered from spices 3 in the past--years ago--and while we'd LOVED the food, we had a terrible customer service experience and hadn't been back since.
I don't know if they're cooking out of a ghost kitchen or we ordered the wrong things or what, but everything was basically inedible. the "sesame chicken" was gummy and tasted like bottled sweet-and-sour sauce. the "chow mein" was literally spaghetti; it had not been stir fried or seasoned in any manner, except with some red pepper flakes. the "pickled vegetables" was just regular kimchi. and the hot and sour soup was inedible--so much white pepper, almost no vinegar, and thickened with so much cornstarch it was basically gravy. the dumplings and scallion pancakes were moderately edible and the green beans were largely inoffensive, but wildly underseasoned. I have no idea what happened here, but this was such a waste of money.

We have ordered and enjoyed meals from Spices 3 before. Today, we placed a large order, >$200 worth. The food was inconsistent. Some items were great - 孜羊 Lamb w/Cumin Spice, eggplant, chicken wings. Other items were poorly executed - the salt and pepper tofu was soggy and bland and the watercress was under seasoned, which was unlike prior experience with these dishes. The scallion pancake was doughy and not crisp. The fried rice was just ok. Lastly, they also forgot to include our mapo tofu...
Not sure I am going to order from them again after this experience.
