TREJO'S HOT SAUCE - Mango and Lemon Drop Pepper *Special Edition - Signed and Numbered
So I've been wanting to try Trejos Taco for a damn long time, and I'm bummed I couldnt go to the actual restaurant but I wasn't going to waste an opportunity to at least try the food, even if it was delivered. I gotta say, I'm pretty darn happy with what I got.
I think my highlights were the Carnitas Taco, Fried Chicken Taco & Mushroom Asada Taco. Really nice balance of flavor and ingredients on them.
The Beef Barbacoa Taco tasted good but was a bit dry but I ordered like an hour before closing so I'm willing to give it another try, another day, another time.
The Cauliflower Taco was kind of just okay. Nothing that really made it stand out from the others. Maybe grilling it to get a bit of char would give it that dimension I feel it's missing? Also, maybe ricing it so it's a bit easier to eat? Or more diced at least?
The Strawberry Lemon Agua Frescais was nice and refreshing, and I like that the Date Sweetened Horchata wasn't overly sweet.
Overall happy and would order again, or better yet, eat on location!

I literally paid $23 for a wet shrimp burrito with cheese. It was so mediocre and came in a plastic hot dog tray. It was so small. The horchata was good but wildly overpriced at $7.00 and they only make one size.

Mediocre burrito and taco. Barbacoa and Tonga were both dry and flavorless. Paid an extra $3 for guacamole for teaspoon of guacamole in the burrito. Plenty of better Mexican food in LA especially considering the relatively high prices.

So fire. People call this mid all the time but the bowls always hit. Every single time. The Date Sweetened Horchata never misses either. The meat portions are around 3.5-4oz so if you double up on the protein you should be proper full.

Tried items highly rated on DD: Steak Asada Burrito, Date Sweetened Horchata and Small Side of Guacamole. Steak Asada Burrito is good, very filling for lunch, but not unique in flavor. Guacamole is good - standard. Date Sweetened Horchata was the standout: highly recommended.
