Located in San Francisco’s vibrant SoMa district and responsible for bringing Pinsa in the US for the first time in 2015. Montesacro pays homage to Rome and its culinary specialties in a warm atmosphe…
This is my first time having the Torpignattara. It's very good. Extremely fresh and redolent of honest Genovese pesto --- unlike the fake pestos with which the Bay Area is lousy (e.g., with cream or walnuts instead of pignolli). My favorite remains the Margherita Pinsa. I have it every time I order from Motesacro. One for me, with anchovies & olives, one for my daughter, Margherita, without the anchovies. I especially love that Montesacro has Italian oil-cured black olives. Thank goodness for Italian-run Italian restaurants.

The Margherita is by far my favorite pinsa. As I usually do, as a descendant of pure Napoletani, I add anchovies and olives -- Montesacro uses only black oil-cured olives. Bless them. I feel like I'm back in Napoli whenever I have this.

The Margherita was, as always, delicious, just the right amount of wood-fired blistering on the crust. HOWEVER, it was startlingly smaller than all the other Margherite I have gotten from Montesacro. I may have to quit this addiction. Dammit.

Let me start by saying that I have been a huge fan of Montesacro. I have dined there dozen of times, tirelessly recommended the place to friends and colleagues, and ordered at least another dozen times since covid. Tonight, iordree ,3 pinsas and was shocked to see how small they were. The pinsas had shrunk by 20% at the minimum. I personally ordered the montesacro. The toppings were very dry and the mozzawasnt fully melted.

As a pizza connoisseur, i was disappointed esp in the Margherita. It was too thick & mushy and the cheese wasn't melted enough. Sauce was good but as a whole it fell way short. The Centocelle was better -- visually beautiful and quite tasty w an array of veggies--def recommend.
