I love Angelle's Diner. The food is always amazing and the selection is unique among all other area restaurants. The gumbo is out-of-this-world good, but I was extremely disappointed in the portion size when I ordered a "large" - expecting enough for a meal. The amount I received barely covered the bottom of a "to-go" pasta tin with a dollop of rice in the middle. Needless to say, I still had to go out and grab some food to finish my appetite off.
Everyone else had a superb meal. I have never visited the Salem location, but the prices felt like they might have been higher? I treat myself to the Troutville location whenever I get a chance... it just felt cheaper price wise last I went. I could be wrong!
Nonetheless, I highly recommend Angelle's anytime I get a chance simply by taste alone!

The Bacon Cheeseburger was so good, and they got all of my modifications perfectly. I upgraded the side to cheese fries and the portion was fairly large for a side which I really appreciate when I've paid extra. Food was ready quickly and I walked in and was helped immediately.

Okra tasted like old oil. Slaw was dry with an odd taste. Mashed potatoes & green beans lacked seasoning. Apples were ok. Mac & cheese was very good. Country Fried Steak & Hamburger Steak were ok. Portions were large but overall taste of food was bland or poor. I would not order again unless I was only ordering the mac & cheese.

THE RESTAURANT IS USUALLY VERY GOOD BUT TODAY WAS REALLY OFF, THE BLT WAS HORRID. THE BACON REALLY UNDERCOOKED N THE "LETTUCE" IF THAT'S WHAT YOU WANT TO CALL IT WAS GROSS, I HAD TO JUST REMOVE IT FROM THE SANDWICH, IT WAS WILTED, OLD AND SEEMED SLIMEY. VERY DISAPPOINTED AS WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO A GOOD BREAKFAST. :( NOT WORTH THE EXPENSE THIS TIME, WILL RECONSIDER REORDERING.

Onion either. Would highly recommend!
