The Shrimp Tempura Roll was good as always. I wanted to try something new and ordered the Chicken Katsu Don and it tasted amazing! It's the same chicken as if you ordered chicken katsu, but with fried egg, rice and veggies with an almost beef/brothy taste to it and a massive portion for the $15. I didnt think I would like it but will be ordering it often now.

Hands down the best Asian food in the Hamden area. They distinguish themselves apart from other similar restaurants with the above average quality of their meats. The Hibachi Steak is fantastic every time. The Beef Negimaki is close to negimaki I had while living abroad in Japan. The staff is highly professional, and the takeout always packed with care.

I like Kumo a lot but this tiny Salmon Roll is not worth $6 in my opinion. The food is always great.

The Sushi & Sashimi Lunch had only 5 pieces of sashimi instead of the seven in the description. The Coconut Sticky Rice with Fresh Mango, rather than chunks of mango, only had a few julienne strips on top of the rice.
One of the two lunches ordered ( 3 handrolls) was missing and had to be first refunded, then ordered again separately because Kumo does not have their own driver. We got no enjoyment from this lunch experience👎👎

I lived in Japan for a few years on business, and as a result, my standards for Japanese food are typically quite high. Of all the places I've tried near my area (Hamden), Kumo has the most satisfying and authentic tasting Japanese food in my humble but somewhat seasoned opinion. The Beef Negimaki was absolutely perfect and shockingly savory. Whoever they staff in their kitchen really knows what they're doing. Highly recommend.
