Chicken Tikka Masala Special is amazing!!! Basmati Rice just perfect!! Gar ic Naan great! I can say enough great things about these place. My new favorite. Big portions and very fair prices.

We sampled their menu via takeout - The reasons I find this to be some of the best Indian food in Monmouth County right now is that they don’t add sugar to everything, they don’t skimp on traditional spices, and it’s clean on the palate, meaning even the fried options are not greasy. When the food is prepared with respect, it shows. I don’t understand some other reviews - our portions were generous, and for an average price we had plenty of leftovers. The samosa chaat street food blew our minds there was so much goodness going on, the variety in texture, temperature, taste was all there - and I was delighted to find a paneer biryani - something most Indian restaurants don’t bother to offer. I’m a traditionalist - I’m always happy to find whole cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods, plums and tamarind in my biryanis. Even the side dish of jasmine rice is tasty. Makes we want to go back and try the desserts. I would compare the food of Taj to the upscale Indian restaurant in Red Bank, Bombay River, with more options and not as expensive. Just a delight. Got food in the tiniest togo container, and food isn’t good either. Not worth the price. Chef thinks he’s running a luxury tasting menu.

The naan was burnt and somehow tasted like uncooked dough. It was just bad and inedible. The butter chicken was fine. I asked for mild, so I guess I understand, but it just wasn't flavorful. The mango lassi was good at least.
