The absolute best Thai cuisine in historic Oak Park, Illinois! Founded in 1991, Penny’s Noodle Shop opened its doors, introducing the Pan-Asian culinary frenzy to Chicago. For over 25 years, Thai food…
Really good and clean Thai food. I love the spicy clean flavors of Thai food when sick and this did not disappoint. Iced tea was fresh and did not taste fake. Best crab rangoon are those cute little purses. The Tom Kha Kai soup was absolutely perfect and the spice was what I needed to combat this cold. The Pad Thai was excellent and did not have that fake sour taste like other places. It was made fresh. The only downfall to this place is the really high delivery charge otherwise I would keep ordering from here. Luckily I had a gift card that helped.

Food was packaged well and with care. Portions were really great. Gyoza was yummy and sauce was perfectly acidic and salty. Veggies were nice and crisp, however, pad thai lacked a lot of flavor and just tasted like it was cooked all together and had no definition of flavor (other than cooked)-- it would have really benefited from lime (like it is usually served) and a better tamarind sauce. Additionally, rangoons were crisp, but REALLY needed seasoning.
I tried it, but would not order again.

Penny's is the only place that can make pad se eu correctly. The sauce is sweet and thick whereas most places I've tried it has a thinner sauce.

Everything was OK. Thai iced tea is extremely strong and delicious compared to some places which use a powder resulting in a flavorless tea. Tom kha is okay it didnt taste very fresh kind of lack luster but it hits the spot. You also cannot choose a protein which is a little unusual. The Pepper Tofu Rice Platter has some sort of spice that kind of tastes like licorice im assuming star anise. I was not impressed with the size and for something that's 90% bell peppers, onions, broccoli, tofu and a side of rice, 16.50 is overpriced. I wish i could've tried their crispy rolls, gyoza, or crab rangoon, but im not paying 6 and 8 dollars for a SIDE that should be less than 5 dollars if that.
