The portions are small, but the food has good flavor. I ordered the Ropa Vieja, and Chicharrones de Pollo and there was not a lot of food at all. The portions were very small.I also ordered the Yuca hervida and the yuca was still hard. I could barely eat it. The tostones were very thin and over-fried—I couldn’t even bite into them or chew them.

Few things still taste good to me these days. But I can always count on La Carreta for something delicious that I can spread across two days!! The ropa vieja has not changed in years. The arroz con pollo has though unfortunately! But that ropa vieja always hits the spot. I just convinced myself to order the garlic chicken!! Mouth watering!!!

I ordered a Tostada Cubana and I got a semi-toasted hogie roll or something similar, but it was not Cuban bread. It was much smaller and had a different texture. My coffee was practically all milk and cold, and most of my bacon was burned. I've placed this order many times before. This was horrible and beyond disappointing.

Last night, I ordered rice mixed with black beans, fried chicken chunks and fried sweet plantains. My husband and I were very disappointed. Some of the plantains were burned, the chicken was tasteless and the rice was like the pre-packed rice and the amount of rice was like for a baby.
