• 24-07-30I ordered chicken parmigiana. So delicious. Chicken was tender; sauce was so yummy. And very nice size portion with a salad and bread. Number 1 for me.

• 25-04-30Their lobster ravioli is a favorite ofmy partner. He enjoyed tonight's order from Luce as he has in the past. We both receiv d a generous fresh crisp greens side salad and chabbatta style bread. I however was a little bit disappointed in my penne chicken dish. It was well-prepared: pasta cooked just right, still toothsome. Temp was fine. The issue is one of personal preference only. My dish looked quite different though from their photo illustrating the dish. I looked forward to the bright red sauce in their photo.

• 24-11-10We like Luce very very much. Dined in the restaurant numeroustimes es times family get togethers. This time however they fell short of the mark a bit, the Caprese app was less generous than in the past:fewer slices of cheese and tomato. Flavor and ingredients were all fresh. The escarole and bean soup was a disappointment. The prominent flavor was not the customary melding of cannelini and greens simmered in a tasty broth but of thebitter Asian garlic so oftenused in restaurant kitchens - a different import source? - adding a less than pleasant overall taste. The escarole was overcooked and mushy. Sadly, I did not finish it. Even though the soup is a "homey comfort food" respect for the ingredients is important, the outcome not a thrown together soup. We understand that the cost of ingredients is high these days. It is hitting everyone. therefore care is even more needed to respect those foods which have been bought by the kitchen. As I wrote, we like Luce. Maybe it was an off Saturday. We will try them again.

• 25-01-30BEAUTIFUL FOOD from RL
(Ristorante Luce). As the name
implies RL is a beacon of culi-
nary excellence in a dark world.
The Salmone was cooked perfectly
and garnished w/ candied carrot
strings. It came with a CREAMY
risotto in which each individual
grain of rice retained its' al dente
goodness.
The Scarola con Fagioli was piping
hot! The broth rich, but not over-
powering. You could still sense the
aftertaste hints of licorice in the escarole.
Gnocchi Bolognese was SUPERB.
It was topped with a dollop of
ricotta. A strength of RL is their
use of local suppliers -- the cheese
came from right down the road.
We are SO LUCKY to have RL in
the HAMDEN area.
Thanks, Zadifah, for excellent driving
in rush hour traffic.
