"This eatery from Chefs/owners Phillip Frankland Lee and Margarita Kallas-Lee is no ordinary omakase spot. The nigiri are not just supremely finessed but also infused with original touches—like the dab of sweet corn “pudding” and sourdough breadcrumbs that coat slices of hamachi. Even traditional pairings become transcendent with his house-fermented soy sauce. The iconoclastic vibe extends to the beverages, including cocktails, sake, and beer. Despite such originality, this "bar" does indeed adhere strictly to one tradition: a mini counter with seating for just ten to ensure a deeply personalized experience. The price of the Sushi by Scratch Restaurants: Chicago omakase-inspired tasting menu is $185. Please note that throughout the year, we may offer special omakase experiences, collaborations, or seasonal menus that differ from our standard offering. In those cases, the price of the experience booked will supersede the standard menu price listed above.
This experience starts 30 minutes prior to the scheduled seating time with a complimentary welcome cocktail and canapé service.
Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate vegetarian requests or mushroom allergies.
Due to the intimate nature of our restaurant, reservation changes made less than 48 hours in advance will incur a charge equal to the full per-person price of the experience booked.
Reservations can be transferred to another guest or a different date, but the request must be received at least 48 hours in advance.
