Detroit Style Pizza
Detroit-Style Pizza is known for its airy dough, crunchy edges, and thick, rectangular shape. The secret to proper Detroit-style pizza isn’t something you eat... It’s the pan! The deep-dish pan encourages gooey cheese in the center, and as it spreads out toward the edge of the pan, the edges are caramelized into a crisp, golden cheese crust. Lastly, each square is topped with dollops of red-sauce. This is called “Red Top” and is one of the key characteristics of true, Detroit-style pizza.
