"We decided to try this new spot recently. While there was a mix-up with our initial delivery fulfillment, we were able to try the fries, Teriyaki Chicken Bowl*, and Takoyaki*. The presentation was wonderful! The Takoyaki* looked great and had a lot of flavor, though the texture was a bit too soft and mushy rather than having that traditional outer crunch. The Teriyaki Chicken Bowl* was a generous portion of rice and chicken with a nice touch of edamame and a unique fried egg. The teriyaki sauce itself tasted good, though the chicken had a bit of a gamey flavor beneath it. I can tell the staff is trying hard as a new business, and they clearly care about presentation, but building up the core chicken flavor and ensuring order accuracy on delivery hand-offs would really help justify the cost. "The Blackberry Bear Claw French Toast was delicious. I'm not sure it was worth nearly $19, but if you're looking to treat yourself, lift up a bad day, or maybe split a breakfasty dessert, this will do the trick!
Sadly, that positive was balanced by a quite upsetting negative.
I also ordered a side of French Fries to share, and while the quantity was great for the price... that's where the value ended.
The fries were disgusting.
They were cold, limp, undercooked or overcooked depending on the fry, and had that nasty texture fries that have sat around for days and then been poorly reheated tend to get. There was no way these had been made fresh more recently than the weekend (it's Wednesday). And there is no way Black Bear would have served these in-restraunt.
Absolutely NOT worth the $7.09 price for a side of fries. Probably 98% of the batch went into the trash, and we still ate too many.
We won't be ordering delivery from Black Bear again."
