Payday roll seamed similar to a lobster roll but with more spice and heat. Great bang for your buck. The crab salad was delicious and the portions were generous. Miso soup is always a great choice for a sushi meal. Highly recommended. Extremely fresh and healthy for you.

Update 7-1-2025. Mr. Seng, the owner and fearless leader of RAW, is a class act, a true gentleman. Do yourself a favor and try the sushi rolls. Every single one is amazing. And let me tell you… the loaded mashed potatoes are something very special. DoorDash won’t tell you what’s in them, but I will, bacon, butter, green onions, magic, and love. This place has the best ratings for a reason. Absolute five stars, every time. Raw, owned by Mr. Seng, the same man behind the beloved Fusion Asian, is arguably the best spot in Redding for modern Asian cuisine. The ambiance is on point, the food is excellent, and Alison, who seems to be the heart of the place and closest thing to a GM, does a fantastic job behind the bar. That said, the bar is clearly overwhelmed. The service is slow, and they definitely need a barback or a third bartender on shift at all times. How do I know? Because I pay attention.

Not the first time, and probably not the last time. But this order was lower quality than in the past. The Nori on all items was soggy and stringy. A very unappetizing texture when not expected. The protein to rice balance was way to protein heavy on the Nigiri (I know complaining about too much fish is odd). Ordered one roll and 3 items of nigiri and received the roll, 2 nigiri and a handroll. Other than the Nori, ingredients were fresh, but signifcantly more bland than the previous times. Perhaps a new chef?

I have ordered their salad before. It should have cucumbers and croutons. tonight it just had lettuce and red onions. I have never in my life got a salad with just lettuce and red onions, seven dollars worth of red onions and lettuce. A tiny portion as well.
