2) Braised Short Ribs - meat was confusingly dry throughout, with what appeared to be a turkey gravy - definitely not the promised red wine sauce and definitely not an appropriate amount. Meat was flavorless, although the (wrong) sauce was tasty. Carrots had a nice bite, but once again: zero seasoning. Everything lacked the juicy depth of flavor normally associated with this dish. I'm going to pick out the choice bites and turn the rest into a soup. Mashed potato side was delicious and extremely generous portion - far more potatoes than meat in this dish.
3) Garlic Mashed Potatoes - I'm saving these for later, but for $9, you're getting a scoop that looks to be about 6-8 oz. Tasty, but that's very expensive!
I spent almost a day's wages treating myself and got slightly more than 1 meal's worth of mediocre food... I would consider Lake Chalet to be a huge waste of money. Maybe the charm lies in eating at the actual restaurant...?"

"Ok so obviously what I got was not Pozole but it was due to them being sold out and replacing it with their menudo. The menudo is very good, the broth has good flavor and the tripe is cooked great and soft to chew, I also bought a carnitas Taco Regular which was also very good. The carnitas were tender with crispy ends and a great flavor. You can tell everything is made pretty fresh and the portions are very good for the price. "The French Fries left a lot to be desired. They were barely Luke warm when I got them and a good portion of them were hard as rocks. "As you can see, my order was under $10. But the DD fees took it over $25. This is so disheartening as the food is so cheaply put together and portion sizes are small that I call them "Barbie Food"...the size of grocery store samples. It's getting to where I can barely afford food that wouldn't fill the stomach of a toddler. And McDonalds is one of the worst offenders. The regular burger was flat as a pancake - literally. A few bits of supposed grilled onions, a single pickle slice. The sweet tea was hardly sweet. The small French Fries were decent enough and larger than other restaurants "small" portions and plenty of salt but there didn't used to be the hard, crunchy bits with pointy ends. All this for almost $30 and my stomach still felt empty. I wished McD's would buck the system and go back to their regular sizes and prices. They have always been the front runner of fast food...but now they're just one of "the gang". I'm still really ticked off over that $8 fish filet only 3" wide!"
